Alaska 2023

Went to Alaska with my friends Micah, Matthew, and brother Kenny. We started our journey in Anchorage where we biked along the Cook Inlet. We finished our short stay at Anchorage by making a quick day trip to Denali National Park, completing the Mount Healy Overlook Trail.

The second half of the trip took place in Seward, a city close to Kenai Fjords National Park. I never felt the limitations of photography until I hiked up the Harding Icefield Trail, looked into the vast expanse carved out by a glacier plowing through rock for thousands of years, and soaked in the scenery as I tucked my feeble camera away. A camera cannot capture the quietness that muffles your ears when surrounded by snow. It cannot recreate the feeling of vertigo when you hold your hands out against the backdrop of tectonic glaciers extending further than the eye can see. Even to this day, I reflect back on those views o the Harding Icefield Trail, humbled by nature and eager to return one day.

The mountains are calling and I must go. — John Muir

While our main goal was to see a real-life glacier, we also took the time to enjoy what the city had to offer: kayaking alongside sea otters, hiking along nearby shores, and feasting on a BBQ restaurant started by folks all the way from Texas.
